We already had the witch hunts. We already have it generated right now on conspiracy theories in the United States. Those evil immigrants. I mean, we got the witch hunts again. They’re just a bit more sophisticated than they were several centuries ago.

I saw an interview and they were talking about two AIs meeting each other. And that they went silent. They went silent for 30 minutes, 31 minutes. And then they came back to life. And they said that during that 31 minutes, they believe the two AI entities were having a conversation, which I think is just frank bullshit. It would not take 31 minutes for two artificial intelligence entities to converse about the entire content of their world to each other.

It could not have taken 31 minutes. So I think there’s a lot of smoke and mirrors here. I don’t disbelieve in AI. I believe it’s a thing, but I think there’s a lot of smoke and mirrors. A lot of stuff that gets called AI is just summative. It’s just summative coalition using big, big language models that can do it very quickly. It’s not actually artificial intelligence. It’s just really fast intelligence. And I think there are growing models of actual agentic AI. Maybe I’m just a Luddite. You recall, they trashed the automated printing presses, not the individual printing presses. I’m not trashing AI. I’m just not believing that it’s going to be that impactful negatively on our lives.

So Jack, let me ask, I know we’re near the end here, but you’re my physician. Is it appropriate that I go up to a credible website like the Cleveland Clinic to ask questions about my health? I have this thing happening over here on my knee. Should I be worried about it? Should I go up to the Cleveland Clinic?

Jack

I think you should go to the Cleveland Clinic. Actually, you can ask anybody you want, ask AI, ask Claude. Do whatever you want. However, what you’ve given them is what you believe is going on with your knee. What you’re observing. It’s not necessarily a knee exam and it may or may not be accurate. If you just search the Cleveland Clinic website, you’re just finding summative knowledge. You’re not doing AI. Open evidence in my mind is not AI. It’s summative intelligence, not artificial intelligence. And it’s just rapidly summative and looks for patterns. So, I love my patients to go search. And then when they come to me and I examine their knee and say, it’s not your knee at all. It’s anserine bursitis. And they walk out pain-free. They think that real intelligence trumps artificial intelligence anytime. At least when they have anserine bursitis.
