I’m going to take a stab at something. It is based a little bit on what Gay had presented to us. She works with a person through a traumatic event. It sounds like her patient has a distorted sense of meaning. That distortion of meaning is leading to recurrent self-destructive behavior or self-imposing restraint on that person’s ability to actualize.

Dysregulation. Thank you. For a moment, let’s pretend that primary care is a human being with dysregulation. It has been traumatized because it’s been under-resourced and over-stretched in expectations. So, we have a collective trauma. How would we reconstruct a future narrative that would guide this population? Assuming it was like a human being, just for the moment. How do you reconstruct? Because Gay is helping a person reconstruct their narrative, not by focusing on changing their past narrative, which we could spend centuries on, but constructing a positive narrative that is solution-directed, compelling, and factual. The narrative is delivered in a novel, surprising, and evocative way that would actually stimulate people to consider a new narrative. I’m curious because that’s what I’m hearing in the collection of inputs from this forum. It would not be constructing a new narrative, it would be continuing your ongoing dynamic construction, but in new ways.

It’s not as if you leave the old narrative behind. You build on it and continue to construct it. This is dynamic constructivism in full operation.

Gay, I think you are talking about actually creates neurologic changes. It changes the pathways in the brain that either reinterpret or modify the way the past narrative impacts the current and the future. Is that right, Gay? Am I getting it right? Are you using EMDR or brain spotting or…
