Salus Forum: January 7, 2026

Jeremy

We have a new task to perform in this forum: How do we align this master adaptive leadership process with our stated Salus goal of moving primary health care and family medicine into a different space than it is now? We must contend with large forces. For instance, we have 20 people who have more wealth than half the country. And so, wealth maldistribution is influencing how you can lead and how you can do things in the world of health care. And so, in a following session to this Forum, we can frame master adaptive leadership within the context of the healthcare forum, maybe combining it with some of the Salus concepts in our two new volumes (which incorporate some of Perry Pugno’s ideas from his book on physicians as leaders).

Today’s session fits so much back to what Jack brought up at our last forum. Jack brought up the role played by pastors in health care. Walt, your work has been inspired by you and your wife going to a conference on peace. I think that leads us, as did Jack’s presentation, into the spiritual realm of healthcare. Our Salus group keeps hovering on the proposition that health ultimately requires a spiritual outcome, not a secular outcome.

Well, this concludes this session. More to follow. And thank you very much, Walt Mills, for bringing such a dynamic conversation into the group. It’s been a fantastic session.
