The Family Project
The Re-Introduction//Re-Engagement and Re-Creation of the Family can occur in many different ways. One way is to identify and enact a family project. What is something that you can do as a family that brings in all of the energy, talent and shared enthusiasm of family members.
The Singing Family
We can introduce one example of a family project conducted recently in the midst of the COVID-19 crisis. It is a video production that has now gone viral. You might have already seen it on You Tube. It is a family’s recreation of a song from the musical Les Miserable. Enjoy–we can use a little humor right now. And consider what the project might be in which your own family can be engaged. We encourage you to go through the effort of pasting up and downloading this document — it is worth the effort.

Here is a second version of the same song from Les Miserable that is not about changing the words, but about singing in harmony with great family voices. They aren’t quite the Von Trapp Family Singers of Sound of Music fame — but they are pretty darn good (once again it is worth the extra effort to paste this link up in the browser):

Something for Everyone in the Family
All members of a family don’t have to come together to engage in a single project. We all don’t have to be Julie Andrews and those very talented child actors playing her kids. There are many different ways to convey something about the virus or to direct energy to a project in which one or more family members can be involved.
For example, one or more members of your family might be bid sports fans. The might like to watch the following interview conducted by Stephan Curry, the super star basketball player with the Golden State Warriors. He is interviewing Anthony Fauci, one of the most trusted and clear communicators about the COVID-a9 virus:

How about art lovers. Here is link to a request made by the famed Getty Museum in Los Angeles for household replications of famous works of art. A nice divergence during the lock-down:

Keeping Active and Finding Purpose
These examples are being offered to motivate and inspiring you individually and as a family to find something to do that is a bit different from the routine established before the virus hit. Try something creative. Try something that is a bit beyond your usual reach in terms of skills and experiences. Do something that makes you proud and that makes other members of your family more fully appreciate your hidden talents — or the hidden talents of the entire family living and working together. It is a matter of re-creating. . . .
